How to Activate & Set Transfer Limit for PayFast
A daily limit up to HK$10,000 is shared between PayFast and Scan & Pay.
If the transferred amount exceeds your remaining daily transfer limit for PayFast, we will debit the whole transaction amount from your daily transfer limit for “non-registered payee”# to complete the PayFast transfer. This requires authentication with your Digital Token or Secure Device.
# The maximum daily transfer limit for “non-registered payee” for DBS Personal Banking customers, DBS Treasures customers and DBS Treasures Private Client / DBS Private Bank customers are HK$150,000, HK$300,000 and HK$600,000 respectively.

- If you have received funds that are mis-transferred to you, you should immediately contact us at (852) 2290 8888 to arrange the return of funds. You may have criminal liability if you do not return the mis-transferred funds.

What is PayFast?
- What is PayFast?
PayFast is an electronic fund transfer service supported by Faster Payment System (FPS) that allows you to pay instantly* to any local recipients’ mobile number or email address, and does not require additional authentication. Daily transfer limit is up to HK$10,000. - Are there any service charges for using PayFast?
PayFast is free. - How do I activate and use PayFast?
You can activate PayFast via DBS iBanking, DBS iWealth® or DBS digibank. After login, under "Transfer", select "Transfer Settings". During registration, you will be required to use secure device for authentication. - How does a PayFast fund transfer work?
Receiving money:- Inform sender of your registered mobile number or email address
- Inform sender to send funds to your registered mobile number or email address using transfer function, supported by FPS, on his/her bank's internet banking or mobile banking platform

- How would I ensure I am sending to the right person?
When you transfer funds via PayFast, you will enter the recipient mobile number or email address and click "Verify" to perform a lookup. Doing so will display the recipient's partial name. You can verify he/she is indeed the right person. - How would I know my friend has registerd his/her mobile number or email address to receive funds?
When you transfer funds via PayFast, you will enter the recipient mobile number or email address and click "Verify" to perform a lookup. Partial recipient name will be shown when the mobile number or email address is registered. Otherwise, you will be notified.

Receiving funds with your mobile number / email address
- How can I use my mobile number or email address to receive funds?
You can register your mobile number or email address via DBS iBanking, DBS iWealth® or DBS digibank. During registration, you will be asked to select the DBS account that you want to link to your mobile number or email address. Once you registered, your designated DBS account will be your default account for receiving funds. - Will my personal information be showed on the sender's bank internet or mobile banking platform?
Only your partial name will be showed on the sender's bank internet or mobile banking platform for transaction verification. - Can I link both my mobile number and email address to the same DBS account?
Yes, you may link both your mobile number and email address to the same DBS bank account. - I recently changed my mobile number or email address, and would like to update my registration record in FPS. What should I do?
If you have recently changed your mobile number or email address, you may follow the below steps to update your record:- Deregister your old mobile number (or email address) by going to "Transfer Settings" via DBS iBanking, DBS iWealth® or DBS digibank;
- Update your new mobile number or email address with the Bank via DBS iBanking;
- When your new mobile number or email address is effective (you will be notified by SMS), you can then register again via DBS iBanking, DBS iWealth® or DBS digibank.
- What should I do if I lost my mobile phone?
If you have lost your mobile phone, please call (852) 2290 8888 or visit any of our branches as soon as possible. - What should I do if I change my mobile number?
If your existing mobile number is registered for FPS Addressing Service, please unregister it via Transfer > Transfer Settings (for DBS iBanking) or Setting > Transfer Settings (for digibank/DBS iWealth®) before you update your new mobile number. You can register FPS with your new mobile number once it becomes effective. - Can I register for FPS at different banks to facilitate transfer between my local bank accounts?
Yes, but you can only set one default receiving account per proxy ID (e.g. mobile number, email address). - Will I be notified when I receive funds at my default account?
You will receive both SMS and email notifications when you receive funds at your defualt DBS accounts. - Can anyone view my FPS activities?
Only the sender and receiver of the transaction can view the transaction record.
Receiving funds with your HKID card numberNEW
- What is the purpose for registering FPS service with my HKID card number?
It allows you to receive payment and transfer from institutions, corporates and the HKSAR government (e.g. payroll payment) using your HKID card number. - Can I register my HKID card number for FPS at different banks to facilitate transfer between my local bank accounts?
No, you cannot use HKID card number to make FPS transfer for personal use.
Unlike mobile number and email address registration for FPS service, you can only link your HKID card number to ONE bank at a time. If you have already registered for FPS service with your HKID card number in another bank, you have to deregister first in order to register for FPS service with your HKID card number with us. - Can I use joint account to register for FPS service with my HKID card number?
No. You can only use single account to register for FPS service with your HKID card number. - I do not have Secure Device/ Digital Token on hand, can I still register for FPS with my HKID card number?
Yes, you can choose to complete the registration using SMS OTP authentication. - Will I receive any notification when I complete the FPS registration with my HKID card number?
You will receive both SMS and email notifications upon successful registration.
Bank Account allowed for PayFast
- What types of bank accounts can I link my mobile number or email address to? Are joint accounts included?
All single-name accounts and joint-name accounts (excluding joint-accounts with all-to-sign instruction) of DBS Current and Savings accounts are eligible to be linked to mobile number or email address to receive funds transfers. - For a joint account, can all joint account holders link their mobile number or email address to the joint account?
Yes, each joint account holder can choose to link his/her own mobile number or email address associated with his/her DBS iBanking profile to the same joint account (excluding joint-accounts with all-to-sign instruction). - What will happen if I close the bank account linked to my mobile number or email address?
Once you close your bank account, all mobile number or email address linked to that account will automatically be de-registered, and you will be notified accordingly via SMS or email.
Third party funds transfer
- I used to transfer funds to my registered payee at another local bank. Why is now my FPS transfer to the same payee rejected?
For security reasons, the recipient account name of payee needs to be verified in a FPS transaction. Please check if the recipient account name of your registered payee matches with the payee bank's record. If they do not match, the FPS transaction will be rejected. - How to update the recipient account name of my registered payee?
The recipient account name of a registered payee cannot be changed. You have to delete the payee and register again. - Why was my transaction still rejected after I had updated the recipient account name of my registered payee?
In this case, please contact the recipient bank for further information. - How can I transfer foreign currency(except HKD and CNY) to account in other local banks?
To transfer foreign currency to other local bank accounts, please go to “Transfer” > “DBS Remit and Overseas Transfer” and select “Hong Kong” as your destination.
