James Lo

Mr. James Lo joined DBS in 2011. He heads up Institutional Treasury Management within the Institutional Banking Group at DBS Bank, Hong Kong Branch. James is a seasoned banker with over a decade of experience in the PEVC & hedge fund space. He has developed a reputation as a go-to banker in the offshore private fund market in Greater China and North Asia. He and his teams also focus on Fintech and China New Economy business. James Lo accomplished an MBA at the University of New South Wales (Australia) and holds a Master’s degree in International Business as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting & Marketing, both from the University of New South Wales (Australia).

Akira Wong

Akira Wong has been with DBS since 2013 and is currently the Team Lead of Institutional Treasury Management at DBS Bank (Hong Kong) Limited. His team offers a variety of corporate banking products and services to asset managers and funds such as private equities and hedge funds, mainly from Asia especially Greater China. Before this role, Akira was based in Singapore, where he was a Relationship Manager at DBS Bank focused on the fund industry, partnering with various funds and fund managers globally to build relationship in Singapore. He also collaborated with DBS Private Banking to provide a one-bank solution for clients who wanted to set up single-family offices in Singapore.

Brajeshwar Banerjee ("Ban")

Brajeshwar Banerjee (Ban) is a partner in the Transactions group of KPMG Tax Corporation. He has more than 20 years of experience in serving fund and asset management clients working closely with clients’ tax and legal teams in planning and advising on matters relating to Japan market entry, structuring and financing of investments into and from Japan, tax risk management, tax audit defense and resolutions and assistance with Japanese tax compliance matters. A resident of Japan for over 20 years, Ban is one of the few people in the Japanese tax space who is fully bilingual in Japanese and English. Ban began his career with Arthur Andersen, joined KPMG in 2002 and became a partner in 2008. He is a published author and commentator, is recognized as a tax controversy leader for Japan by the International Tax Review and participates in the activities of the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) Japan and the Futures Industry Association (FIA) Japan.
Elaine Chow
Director, Waystone
Elaine joined Waystone in 2011 since the start of the Waystone Hong Kong operation, and has over 15 years of experience working within finance, compliance and investment management. She is a Director based in Waystone’s Hong Kong office and she is part of the client solutions team where she supports strategic partnerships and business growth for the Asia-Pacific region. She works closely with different business units within Waystone group and the global Business Development teams on all aspects of business planning and strategy. Elaine has extensive experience serving Asia-based hedge funds, private equity and venture capital funds with varying structure and investment strategies across multiple jurisdictions.
Elaine graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a B.A. in Economics.
James Gaden

James Gaden is a partner in the Global Corporate and Investment Funds Groups of Walkers' Hong Kong office. He has over 20 years' experience advising the investment funds industry. He specialises in advising private equity and hedge fund managers on a broad spectrum of legal issues including fund formation and structuring, acquisitions and disposals, fund restructuring and fund financing.
In addition, James has an active corporate practice which includes providing general corporate advice on corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures. He also advises companies, LLCs, partnerships and their investors in relation to a variety of different financing transactions. James advises clients from across the region including in Hong Kong, China, Japan, Korea, Singapore and Australia. Nathan Chow
Executive Director, Senior Economist, Group Research, DBS Bank (Hong Kong)
Mr. Nathan Chow is DBS Bank’s Executive Director and Senior Economist and he joined us in May 2011.
Mr. Chow is responsible for monitoring the market development of offshore RMB businesses and the macroeconomic conditions in Greater China. He conducts economic/ investment seminars on a regular basis for the public and internal staff across Asia, spanning from Singapore, Hong Kong, Taipei to Shanghai and Beijing. Mr. Chow also provides training for internal staff with an aim to support sales programmes. As a guest speaker, he delivers lectures for postgraduates on MBA courses at the University of Hong Kong and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Prior to joining DBS Bank, Mr. Chow had stayed with China International Capital Corporation Limited, China Investment Corporation and Hong Kong Monetary Authority as economist and analyst. Mr. Chow’s expertise focuses on macroeconomics and financial market research.
Mr. Chow speaks regularly to the electronic media such as Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters, Wall Street Journal, TVB, NowTV, and Cable TV and various print media, like Financial Times, Fortune, Asiamoney, and China Daily providing his professional insights on finance and economics. Mr. Chow also speaks on economic forums and conferences, such as those convened by Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing, Treasury Markets Association, and Hong Kong Institute of Bankers.
Mr. Chow holds a Bachelor and a Master degree in Economics from Simon Fraser University.
Nicole Chan
Head of Greater China, Preqin
Nicole serves as Head of Greater China at Preqin. She pioneered the set-up of Preqin’s China operations, and currently manages Preqin’s Hong Kong and Beijing offices. She also leads the business development and account management team in Greater China, and was also in Global Corporate Responsibility Strategy team and APAC DEI Committee. She has deep experiences in private capital, hedge fund and ESG market. Nicole holds Bachelor of Social Sciences from the University of Hong Kong.
Stanley Howard
Founder & Director, Teneo Partners
Stanley Howard is Founder and Director of Teneo Partners Limited, overseeing the firm’s business across all offerings. Mr. Howard is a veteran of the fund markets in Japan with over 30 years of experience in dealing with Japanese investors and institutions. He founded Teneo Partners in 2003 and has been instrumental in building the firm into an organization that is highly regarded for its ability to provide effective placement and innovative distribution offerings to asset managers.
Upon graduating from the University of Michigan, he was employed by Itochu, a major Japanese trading company, before pursuing MBA studies at Kellogg, Northwestern University. Initially working at Smith Barney Harris Upham upon completion of the MBA program, he later joined Morgan Stanley managing the foreign equity desk in Tokyo. Mr. Howard then joined the Tiedemann Investment Group and then managed the Japan business for Investor Select Advisors as President, Japan. During that time Stan served as Vice Chairman for the Japan Branch of AIMA, the Alternative Investment Management Association. Stan was born and raised in rural Japan, giving him a level of understanding of the culture that few foreigners have.
Mr. Howard is also Founder and Chairman of Gordian Capital Limited, a fund management solutions platform which has it primary operations in Singapore and Japan.
Timothy Stevens
Partner, Singapore, Walkers
Timothy Stevens is a partner in the Corporate and Investment Funds Group, based in Singapore. He specialises in advising private equity, venture capital and hedge fund managers on a broad spectrum of legal issues including fund formations and structuring, acquisitions and disposals and fund restructurings.
Tim also has an active corporate practice which includes providing corporate advice on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and corporate governance. Tim acts for clients across Asia-Pacific, including Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia and Indonesia. Tim has extensive knowledge of the hedge funds and private equity market in Japan and is a specialist in the structuring and formation of open-ended and closed-ended unit trust fund structures.
Vumi Dube
Executive Director, Waystone
Vumi Dube is an Executive Director in the Cayman Islands office. Vumi’s practice includes serving on the boards of a broad range of open-ended and closed-ended funds across various investment strategies with managers based in developed and emerging markets.
A Chartered Accountant and CFA Charterholder, Vumi has extensive experience in providing governance, regulatory, compliance, auditing and accounting services to investment companies. His expertise includes overseeing and providing guidance for a variety of situations, including new fund launches and distressed situations. In addition to leading board meetings, Vumi reviews key fund documentation, agreements and side letters, manages the performance of key service providers, and oversees financial reporting, including the fair valuation of illiquid or hard-to-value investments.
Prior to joining Waystone, Vumi held senior roles at Citco Fund Services, based in the Cayman Islands and previously at Deloitte where he gained significant experience in Cayman Islands’ regulatory matters.
Yasutake Homma 本間 靖健氏

HOMMA is responsible for research on Japan ESG market at Bloomberg Intelligence (BI), which is a market research arm at Bloomberg. He joined Bloomberg in 2015 after his tenure at Japan governmental financial agencies, JBIC and JICA, in charge of loans toward emerging economies (Central Asia/Turkey/Africa). With initial work experience at Analytics and Sales at Bloomberg, he has been engaged in financial sector associate analyst at BI. He holds Ph.D. in Finance at Hitotsubashi University in Japan specializing in empirical analysis on corporate finance and governance.
