Organised by DBS Bank (Hong Kong) Limited, the DBS BusinessClass Smart Living Disrupt was successfully held on 11 April 2019. Themed “Work Smarter, Live Better”, DBS focused on exploring business opportunities for SMEs in smart living sector. Seven delegate speakers shared their insights on the smart living initiatives with 300 industry attendees, covering the use of innovative technologies to address the industry pain points and how SMEs could apply “Work Smarter” strategies to create business opportunities. In addition, 20 participating enterprises and start-ups demonstrated their smart living business models and technology applications at the exhibition area, including artificial intelligence, facial recognition, virtual reality, smart offices, indoor smart plant growers, medical data analysis, cloud computing and more.
Mr. Alex Cheung, Managing Director, Head of Institutional Banking Group, DBS Bank (Hong Kong) Limited said DBS BusinessClass aimed at providing a networking platform for SMEs, enabling players from different industries to explore partnership opportunities in the smart living sector, and to stimulate innovative ideas and enable their success by scaling up their business. He also encouraged SMEs to seize this golden opportunity while improving the quality of living by innovative technologies, and to create a healthy and sustainable environment for society.
Smart Living Meeting Market Demands
Mr. Daniel Chun, Chairman, Research and Blueprint Committee, Smart City Consortium, said in a keynote speech on “How small businesses could benefit from smart living initiatives?”. “In the past, a major pain point for SMEs was how to expand their customer base. Now, through online platforms, customers can order food and purchase merchandise conveniently. With this, merchants are able to collect customer data for analysis, making it effortless to reach a wider range of customers.”
Mr. Marcos Chow, Partner, IT Advisory, KPMG Hong Kong; Mr. Kenneth Chan, Enterprise Architect, JOS; Mr. Keith Cheng, Head of Hong Kong Digitization Hub, MindSphere Application Center – City, Siemens Limited; Mr. Francis Fong, Honorary President, Hong Kong Information Technology Federation; Dr. Ernest Lo, President, Hong Kong Internet of Things Alliance; and Mr. Daniel Chun shared their insights on the “Bridge to the Smart Living Business”, that smart living not only focuses on technical level, but more importantly on how to make good use of technology to improve the industry and create a better ecosystem.
In the speech “Power up the Growth of SME Business”, Ir Dr. Anthony Lo, Director – Corporate Customer Experience, Customer & Business Development, CLP Power, shared the best practices in orchestrating smart living projects.
