What is Investment Account Upgrade?
Selected customers may receive the communication from the Bank regarding the upgrade of Investment Accounts to Wealth Management Account. For customers with a joint account, the communication will be sent to the primary account holder.

Your Investment Accounts will be closed within one month. This Account Upgrade will provide you with enhanced features and greater opportunities to grow your wealth.

When will the Account Upgrade happen, and what should I expect?
The Account Upgrade will be scheduled for a weekend in October/November 2025, the date of which is yet to be confirmed. Your WMA will be created, investment holdings will be transferred, and your current Investment Accounts will be closed within one month. Please note that some trading activities will be temporarily restricted during the Account Upgrade period.
If I already have a WMA with the Bank, what will be the impact of the Account Upgrade on me?
Your holding in Investment Accounts will be consolidated to your WMA.

If your account is a joint account, and any of the owners are not yet a DBS Treasures customer, all owners will be upgraded to DBS Treasures.
Will I be informed on the date of Account Upgrade and new WMA opening?
Yes, customer communication about the Account Upgrade arrangement will be sent to your registered address and email. Notification will be sent to you upon your WMA being opened.
When will my Investment Accounts be closed?
Your Investment Accounts will be closed in one month after successful Account Upgrade. You will receive another notification from us after account closure.
Can I continue to use my Investment Accounts if I decide not to open WMA during the Account Upgrade?
Apologies, the Securities Trading and/or Investment Fund Trading service of the Investment Accounts will no longer be available.

What are the differences after upgrading to DBS Treasures?
DBS Treasures customers enjoy access to a broader suite of banking services, wealth solutions, and exclusive privileges. For more details, please visit www.dbs.com.hk/treasures/default.page.

If your account is a joint account, and any of the owners are not yet a DBS Treasures customer, all owners will be upgraded to DBS Treasures.
How is the Monthly Service Fee and threshold determined?
The Monthly Service Fee threshold for a DBS Treasures account is HK$1,000,000, based on your Average Total Relationship Balance* over 3 consecutive months. If your balance falls below this threshold (or its equivalent), a Monthly Service Fee of HK$300 will apply. This fee will be waived for the first 2 years for those customers who are upgraded from DBS Account to DBS Treasures due to this Account Upgrade. These customers will receive a written confirmation separately. Customers who are existing DBS Treasures customers at the time of this Account Upgrade will not be entitled to this fee waiver.

*Definition – “Average Total Relationship Balance over 3 consecutive months
is calculated by taking the total of your daily Total Relationship Balance over any 3 consecutive calendar months, divided by the number of calendar days in that period. Your Total Relationship Balance includes assets held solely or jointly with the Bank, across: HKD, RMB, and Foreign Currency Deposits, Currency Linked Investments, market value of local and overseas Securities, Investment Funds, Bonds, Paper Gold, Structured or Linked Investment Products; Please refer to the Bank Charges Schedule for the latest information.

Will I have a Relationship Manager (“RM”) after upgrading to DBS Treasures?
Yes, you will have a dedicated Treasures RM after upgrading to DBS Treasures. You can access his/her detailed information under DBS iBanking, DBS digibank HK app, or simply refer to the upcoming welcome notification about DBS Treasures services.

Will my existing holdings and cost price be transferred?
Yes. Your investment fund cost prices and manually input securities costs will carry forward. If these are unavailable, the latest market price on the Account Upgrade day will be used. Profit & Loss (P&L) will reflect the post-transfer valuations.
Do I need to transfer cash into WMA before trading?
Yes. Unlike your current setup, where cash is automatically debited from a settlement account, the WMA requires you to transfer available cash into your multi-currency settlement account in WMA before placing any trade.

Can I continue to trade with my Investment Accounts after Account Upgrade?
  • Investment Fund Service
    The Investment Fund holding at your Investment Fund Account will be transferred to your WMA automatically as per the scheduled timeslot. By then, you can conduct your fund subscription/switching/Regular Savings Plan setup/termination via WMA. The investment fund trading service in Investment Fund Account will be suspended.

  • Securities Trading Service
    The Securities holding at your Securities Account will be transferred to your WMA automatically as per the scheduled timeslot. By then, you can continue to trade securities via WMA. The securities trading service in Securities Account will be suspended.
What will be the arrangement on my securities and investment fund corporate actions?
Securities and investment fund corporate actions with cut-off date/record date prior to the Account Upgrade or with payment date after the Account Upgrade will still be handled through your Investment Accounts. If the corporate action involves distribution of shares or fund units, they will be transferred to your WMA subsequently.
Apart from the Investment Accounts, will there be any change in my Investment ID account as governed under the Investment Products Consolidated Terms & Conditions?
This Account Upgrade is only applicable to the Securities Account and Investment Fund Account. The Investment ID Account which involves trading of Structured Investment Product (“SIP”) and Currency Linked Investment (“CLI”) is not affected.

However, you are highly encouraged to consolidate all your investments in one account (via WMA) for easier management. WMA also offers trading services of SIP and CLI, and other investment products.

Trading & Operations - Securities related

Can I place Good till Date (“GTD”) orders during the Account Upgrade?
No. GTD orders will be suspended 4 trading days before the Account Upgrade. Only day orders will be accepted and outstanding GTD orders will be cancelled after the Account Upgrade.
[Existing WMA customers] I have deactivated online equity trading service of my existing WMA, can I trade through WMA after the upgrade?
If you deactivated your online trading service for your existing WMA during the WMA opening at that time, it will be reactivated during the Account Upgrade. Then you may continue to enjoy the equity trading service through your WMA after the upgrade. For further questions or if you wish to continue deactivating online trading service for your WMA, please contact your RM or visit any of our branches.
Can I enjoy the Equities Trading Club when I open WMA? Do I need to sign up?
You can enjoy the rate of corresponding tiering in Equities Trading Club when you open WMA. No sign up is required.

Is there any Safekeeping Maintenance Fee for WMA? What is the difference?
Yes, Safekeeping Maintenance Fee will be charged for WMA semi-annually, which is different from Securities Account . It is calculated according to portfolio value on a monthly accrual basis at 0.025% per annum. (Min charge HK$100, Max charge HK$500)

I want to place orders for stock trading, what are the channels available?
You can continue to enjoy the stock trading service via our DBS iBanking and DBS digibank HK app. The Automated Phone Banking and Securities Trading Hotline are not supported for WMA.

Trading & Operations - Investment Fund related

What should I do if I cannot see my holdings in my Investment Fund Account during the Account Upgrade?
For customers with a successful Account Upgrade on 9 November 2025, your settled investment fund holdings will be transferred to the Wealth Management Account (“WMA”) and displayed in DBS iBanking/DBS digibank HK app after the completion of the Account Upgrade on 9 Nov 2025. You can access your WMA — displayed as “Wealth Portfolio” — under the “Wealth Management” and Invest” sections when you log in to DBS iBanking or DBS digibank HK app.​

For any unsettled transactions or holdings not yet transferred, you still can redeem them via the Investment Fund Account. The transfer to your WMA will be completed within one week after the Account Upgrade. ​
How should I perform investment fund trading if the Account Upgrade is unsuccessful i.e. the WMA is not opened successfully on 9 November 2025?
For customers with an unsuccessful Account Upgrade on 9 November 2025, your investment fund or securities holding will remain in your Investment Accounts. The trading and account overview page of your Investment Fund Account in DBS iBanking/DBS digibank HK app will be suspended from 9 am on 9 Nov 2025 to 7 am on 11 Nov 2025. During the suspension period, please contact your Relationship Manager or visit any of our branches for investment fund trading or enquires. ​
What happens to fund redemption orders placed during the Account Upgrade weekend?
If placed via DBS iBanking, the redemption proceeds will be credited to your new WMA after settlement.
What should I do with my outstanding Investment Fund Savings Plan in Investment Fund Account?
Outstanding Investment Fund Savings Plan will be terminated at the end of the cycle in the calendar month preceding the Account Upgrade. You may set up a new Regular Fund Investment Plan in your WMA via DBS digibank HK app.

You are encouraged to terminate your recurring Monthly Savings Plan in Investment Fund account and set up the Regular Fund Investment Plan via DBS digibank HK app (Mobile Banking) prior to the Account Upgrade. Is there any change to the charges for trading investment fund via WMA?
The subscription fee and switching fee will remain unchanged for trading lumpsum investment fund via WMA.

For Regular Fund Investment Plan, the subscription fee is 1.5% only which is lower than Investment Fund Savings Plan. You may learn more about the benefits and customer offers of Regular Fund Investment Plan via our public website Regular Fund Investment Plan.
How should I perform Investment Fund trading after the Account Upgrade?
If you do not have a WMA, the Bank will open it for you automatically. After the WMA is opened/ if you have a WMA already, you can continue to conduct fund subscription/switching/Regular Savings Plan setup/termination via WMA. By then, you cannot conduct subscription/switching via your Investment Fund Account, but redemption is allowed if there are residual units.
Why do the holding values vary on my statement after upgrading from Investment Fund Account to WMA? (Applicable for Investment Fund Account & WMA only)
The calculation of value is based on the unit price obtained from sources believed to be reliable by the Bank on best effort basis. The Bank may use different information provider(s) for price quotation for Investment Fund Account and/or WMA. The Bank and the information provider(s) make no representation and accept no responsibility or liability to the customer as to the accuracy or completeness of such information. The prices shown are for reference only and are subject to change without notice.

What if I work for a Licensed Corporation or Registered Institution?
If you are an employee or director (excluding non-executive directors) of a Licensed Corporation or Registered Institution under the Securities and Futures Ordinance, please consult your employer before the Account Upgrade. This is essential because:

  1. Your account number will change, and
  2. The new WMA is a consolidated account that offers a full suite of investment products, including equities, funds, bonds, structured products, and more — unlike your current setup, which separates securities and fund trading into two accounts.

Do I need to submit Form W-8 to declare non-U.S. tax residency? 
Form W-8BEN (Foreign Individual) / W-8BEN-E (Foreign Entity) (collectively referred to as “Form W-8”) is required by the United States (“US”) Internal Revenue Service (“IRS”) to document that an account holder is the beneficial owner of the income and is not a US person.

  • If you have provided a signed Form W-8, the relevant Form status will be automatically applied to your WMA, allowing you to access the Bank’s investment services via WMA while the Form W-8 remains in effect.
  • If you have NOT provided a signed Form W-8, please do so to declare your non-US person status via DBS iBanking, DBS digibank HK app, your RM or at our branch. Otherwise, the Bank may not be able to provide investment services such as purchasing securities and transfer-in of shares.
    Alternatively, if you would like to declare US person status, please submit Form W-9 (US Person) to the Bank via your RM or at our branch. Please note that submission via DBS iBanking or DBS digibank HK app is not currently applicable for Form W-9.

What do I need to know about the HK Investor Identification Regime (HKIDR)?
If you have already provided consent under your current account, it will carry forward. If not, please update your consent via DBS iBanking or DBS digibank HK app. Without consent, the Bank may not be able to provide certain investment services, such as purchasing securities, transfer-in of shares, or eIPO subscriptions.

How do I activate DBS iBanking and DBS digibank HK access?
If you do not have DBS iBanking and DBS digibank HK access yet, we will create one for you using the mobile phone number registered in our Bank which is used to receive SMS notifications (including but not limited to One Time Password for DBS iBanking). This service will be accessible after activation.

You will receive an initial username from us via email and SMS. After that, you can activate it by either: 1) click “Register” on the website “https://internet-banking.hk.dbs.com/IB/Welcome”, or 2) download the DBS digibank HK app and tap “Register”, then input the necessary info (including your personal information and the initial username) and create your personal username and password. You can then use these online channels to manage your WMA effectively. Note that DBS iBanking and DBS digibank HK share the same login credentials.
What if I have multiple addresses registered with the Bank?
Only one address will be carried over — your correspondence address as shown in the letter < Important Notice: Account Upgrade for Securities Account and Investment Fund Account>.
Will there be any change to my personal account information during the new WMA opening for the Account Upgrade?
No, there will be no change in your personal account information in your new WMA, including but not limited to the account holder names, mobile number, nationality etc.

Your specimen signature on the Bank's records will be used to validate the instructions given to the Bank. Please notify us of any change to the specimen signature.
I maintain a Securities Account with the Bank. Do I need to set up my transaction notification preference for the new WMA again?
No, notification set up in Securities Account will be carried forward to WMA. You may visit DBS iBanking to change your preference.
