Frequently Asked Questions
Is there any limitation on the building age?
Yes. The premise or building must be less than 40 years of age.
Is there any restriction on the type of property?
Yes. HomeShield Insurance is not applicable for sub-divided homes, sub-let property and village houses or the like.
My premise is on the ground floor of the building, can I apply for HomeShield Insurance?
No, HomeShield Insurance is not applicable for premises situated on ground floor.
Does Homeshield Insurance cover an overseas property?
No. The property must be located in Hong Kong SAR.
Can I apply for HomeShield Insurance if I am currently renting a residential premise?
Yes. In your capacity as a tenant, HomeShield Insurance provides coverage for your contents and personal belongings as well as those owned by your family members living in the same premise.
Do I need to provide a detailed list of the contents in my premise?
No. You just need to choose the plan with the Sum Insured that represents the full value (as new) of your Contents and Renovations (including those of your family members residing with you).
How can I pay for the policy?
You can pay annually by credit card (Visa and MasterCard).
How do I renew the policy before expiry?
HomeShield Insurance will be renewed automatically provided that the premium is received by Chubb.
How to Make a Claim
Submitting claims
You can call DBS Chubb Insurance Service Hotline at (852) 3191 6618 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, excluding public holidays) or email to dbscs.hk@chubb.com for any enquiries on how to submit a claim.
Processing duration
Upon receiving your claim and all supporting documentation, we will begin assessing your claim, which will take 5-7 business days. Once your claim is accepted, you will be reimbursed via cheque or bank transfer within the following 5-7 business days.

- The above insurance plans are underwritten by Chubb Insurance Hong Kong Limited ("Chubb"). Chubb reserves the right of final approval. DBS Bank (Hong Kong) Limited (the "Bank") is an insurance agent authorised by Chubb.
- DBS Chubb Insurance Service Hotline is a dedicated enquiry hotline for DBS customers serviced by Chubb.
- This policy will be automatically renewed upon the policy expiry date of each subsequent policy year unless written cancellation notice has been given to Chubb.
- Major Exclusions apply: War, terrorism, scratching, corrosion, wear and tear, mechanical or electrical breakdown, home unoccupied for more than 30 consecutive days, malicious damage or vandalism by a person residing lawfully in the home, contact or corneal lens, mobile or portable telephone, etc.
- The above information are the highlights of plan’s coverage only. For the plan's details, please refer to the terms and conditions and exclusions of the policy. In the event of any discrepancy between English and Chinese version, the English version shall prevail.
- In the event of an eligible dispute (as defined in the Terms of Reference for the Financial Dispute Resolution Centre) arising between the Bank and the customer out of the selling process or processing of the related transaction, the Bank will enter into a Financial Dispute Resolution Scheme process with the customer; however any disputes over the contractual terms of the policy should be resolved directly between Chubb and the customer.
Under the “Insurance Ordinance”(Cap. 41), the Insurance Authority (IA) has started to collect the levy on insurance premiums from policyholders through insurance companies from 1 January 2018. For more details, please refer to : www.ia.org.hk/en/levy.
