Can a non-HKID holder apply for TravellerShield Travel Insurance?
For TravellerShield Single Trip Insurance, policyholder and/or insured person not required to be a HKID holder. For TravellerShield Annual Travel Insurance, policyholder and/or insured person must be a HKID holder. All trips need to have a Hong Kong origin.
Can an insured person purchase TravellerShield Travel Insurance the moment he/she arrives at his/her travel destination?
No, an insured person has to purchase TravellerShield Travel Insurance before he/she departs from Hong Kong.
Can TravellerShield Travel Insurance provide cover for business trips?
Yes, TravellerShield is designed for travellers who are travelling for leisure travel or for business travel (limited to administrative, clerical and non-manual works purposes only) purposes. For TravellerShield Single Trip Travel Insurance, the journey should originate from Hong Kong and the maximum journey duration is 182 days.
For TravellerShield Annual Travel Insurance, each return journey should originate from and return to Hong Kong and the maximum journey duration is 90 days; each one-way journey should originate from Hong Kong and the maximum journey duration is 30 days.
What is the policy renewal arrangement for TravellerShield Annual Travel Insurance?
To ensure your coverage will not be interrupted, your policy will be renewed automatically for a further annual period upon the expiry date and the annual premium will be debited from the provided credit card. The renewal insurability is subject to the terms and conditions in the renewal notice and policy wording. If you do not wish to renew the policy, you should notify Chubb upon receipt of the renewal notice.
What is the definition of Immediate Family Member?
Immediate Family Member means an insured person’s spouse, parents, parents-in-law, grandparents, children, siblings, grandchildren, legally adopted children or legal guardians.
What can the insured person do if he/she gets sick or suffers an injury during the journey?
If the insured person gets sick or suffers an injury during the journey, he/she can visit a qualified medical practitioner for medical consultation overseas. Moreover, TravellerShield Travel Insurance also provides coverage for follow-up medical expenses incurred in Hong Kong within 90 days after he/she returns to Hong Kong. Please remember to keep all doctor report(s)/ receipt(s) for claims purposes.

In case an accident occurs during the journey, what kind of support is available from TravellerShield Travel Insurance?
TravellerShield Travel Insurance provides emergency assistance services. In the event of an injury of the insured person, he/she may call the 24-Hour Chubb assistance hotline for medical service referral. If the insured person requires medical evacuation to another location or return to Hong Kong for appropriate medical treatment on the advice of a physician, Chubb Assistance will provide evacuation arrangements. Chubb Assistance hotline also provides the following services:
- Loss of luggage assistance
- Loss of travel document assistance; and
- Embassy / interpreter referral, etc.

- In the event of an eligible dispute (as defined in the Terms of Reference for the Financial Dispute Resolution Centre) arising between the Bank and the customer out of the selling process or processing of the related transaction, the Bank will enter into a Financial Dispute Resolution Scheme process with the customer; however any disputes over the contractual terms of the policy should be resolved directly between Chubb and the customer.
