“DBS Black American Express® Card Overseas Spending Upgrade Offer” Promotion Terms & Conditions

  1. “DBS Black American Express Card Overseas Spending Upgrade Offer” Promotion (“Promotion”) is only applicable to the principal cardholders (“Cardholders”) of DBS Black American Express Card (“Applicable Credit Card”) issued by DBS Bank (Hong Kong) Limited (the “Bank”).
  2. The “Promotion Period” runs from 1 March 2019 to 31 December 2019 (both dates inclusive) (“Promotion Period”).
  3. To participate in this Promotion, Cardholders are required to choose “DBS$ Redemption Scheme” as their DBS$ Reward Scheme and register for this Promotion between 12:00noon (HK Time) on 1 March 2019 and 11:59pm (HK Time) on 31 December 2019 (“Registration Period”) at DBS Omni Mobile Application or webpage (go.dbs.com/hk-registration-en) following below steps:
    1. Register DBS Omni account (for those Cardholders who are already with DBS Omni account may skip step i and go to step ii directly);
    2. Register this Promotion with his/her Applicable Credit Card. Cardholders have to read and confirm the acceptance of the terms and conditions of related Promotion. Cardholders will be given a reference number upon successful registration for record and enquiry purposes. 10,000 quota applies, first come first served. Each Applicable Credit Card is required to register once only. Cardholders who fail to register this Promotion during the Registration Period shall not be eligible to participate in this Promotion.
  4. Upon successful registration, Cardholders’ first HK$60,000 posted overseas spending (as defined in clause 6 below) accumulated by the Applicable Credit Card during the registration month till the end of the Program can enjoy HK$3=1mile conversion rate.

  5. For Applicable Credit Card opened on or after 1 January 2019, if welcome offer is entitled during the Promotion Period of this Promotion, this Promotion’s Extra Reward shall only be entitled when the accumulated Overseas Spending reached the cap of welcome offer (i.e. first HK70,000 Overseas Spending), thereafter HK$60,0000 can be converted into miles using HK$3 = 1 mile conversion rate. The extra reward of this Promotion cannot be enjoyed in conjunction with the welcome offer.

  6. “Overseas Spending” means any posted retail transactions settled in foreign currencies, excluding Macau Pataca conducted at the point of sales (in case of online transactions, the place of registration and/or settlement of the merchant) outside Hong Kong. Retail transaction settled in Macau Pataca shall be counted as Local Spending for this Promotion. Transactions settled in Hong Kong Dollars conducted at the point of sales (in case of online transactions, the place of registration and/or settlement of the merchant) outside Hong Kong (“DCC Transaction”) shall not be counted as Overseas Spending under this Program. For the avoidance of doubt, the following types of transactions shall not be considered as eligible Overseas Spending: cash advances and relevant handling/administration fees, casino chips, foreign exchange, reversed transactions, insurance payment, Reload of e-Wallets (e.g. PayMe and WeChat Pay), transactions that have been subject to cancellation, charge-back, return of goods and/or refund or any other types of transactions specified by the Bank from time to time.
  7. The amount of any Overseas Spending conducted through any supplementary card under the Applicable Credit Card will be aggregated with that of the principal card account.
  8. Basic Reward will be credited to Applicable Credit Card account automatically after the transaction(s) is posted and be shown in monthly statement. The Extra Reward of this Promotion will be credited to Applicable Credit Card account in 2 phases in October 2019 (“Phase I”) & March 2020 (“Phase II”) respectively in the format of DBS$ (“Rebate”) and be shown in monthly statement.
    1. The Rebate of Phase I is applicable to the posted Overseas Spending spent during 1 March 2019 to 31 July 2019 (both dates inclusive).
    2. The Rebate of Phase II is applicable to the posted Overseas Spending spent during 1 August 2019 to 31 December 2019 (both dates inclusive).
  9. The calculations of Rewards for related transaction amount are rounded down to their nearest integral, decimal places (if any) are not counted.
  10. Extra Reward is only available to Cardholders whose credit card accounts are in good standing, remain valid and not in default during the Promotion Period and when the reward is issued.
  11. Extra Reward cannot be transferred or used to settle the minimum payment, exchanged for cash, spending credit or other discounts / products / services.
  12. Eligibility of any transactions for the purpose of this Promotion shall be determined based on the transaction posting date and time in the Bank’s record. If there is any discrepancy between the Bank’s record and Cardholder’s record of any transaction, the Bank’s record shall prevail. All Overseas Spending, based on transaction date, must be conducted during the Promotion Period.
  13. Cardholders must keep the original receipt of each Overseas Spending transaction. In case of disputes about the entitlement of Promotion, the Bank reserves the right to require the Cardholder to present the original receipt of the Overseas Spending for verification. If there is any discrepancy between the Bank’s record and Cardholder’s receipt, the Bank’s record and determination shall be final and conclusive.
  14. A person who is not a party to these Terms and Conditions may not enforce any of their terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Ordinance (Cap 623 of the Laws of Hong Kong).
  15. Entitlement of the Promotion is subject to there being no abuse/non compliance by the Cardholders, failing which the Bank will debit the value of the Extra Reward from Cardholder’s account without notice and/or take such action to recover any outstanding amounts.
  16. The Bank may change these terms and conditions and / or modify or terminate the Promotion. The Bank’s decision is final.
  17. The English version shall prevail if there is any inconsistency between the English and Chinese versions.
