FAQs

What is the cut-off time*^ for non-RMB Clearing House Automated Transfer System (CHATS) and telegraphic transfers (TT)?

For remittance instructions submitted over IDEAL™3.0:

  • CHATS(HKD & USD) and TT(HKD, USD, GBP, EUR) is 5:30pm
  • TT for other currencies (except RMB) is 5:00pm**

Remittance instructions submitted via other channels will be cut-off at 3:30pm (except RMB)

Applications submitted after the cut-off time will be processed on the next working day.

*Note: Monday to Friday, except on Public Holidays

**TT for SGD to non-DBS Singapore accounts cutoff at 4:00pm

^Effective from 2 March 2015

Can HKD and USD be paid via CHATS on Saturdays?

No, there is no CHATS service on Saturdays since the official five days clearing system was implemented in Hong Kong.

Can USD be paid via CHATS on a National Holiday in USA while Hong Kong is a working day?

Yes, USD can be paid via CHATS in such a case.

What is the cut-off time*^ for RMB CHATS and RMB TT transactions?

For remittance instructions submitted over IDEAL™3.0:

  • CHATS (without FX) is 5:30pm
  • CHATS (with FX) is 3:45pm
  • TT is 3:00pm

For remittance instructions submitted via other channels:

  • CHATS (without FX) is 3:30pm
  • CHATS (with FX) is 2:00pm
  • TT is 2:00pm

Applications submitted after the cut-off time will be processed on the next working day.
